**COMMENTS CLOSED, WINNER ANNOUNCED LATER TODAY!**
Thanks for checkin’ out this little blog of mine! If you’ve never been here before and have come via Sew, Mama, Sew!’s amazing event, I’m very glad to have you! My name is Emily and I am currently focused on sharing my experience of traveling around Europe with my husband and 8-month-old son. A huge part of this experience is crafting along the way–making things for my family and for people back home–as a way of staying grounded and making a home wherever we go. I’ve been doing a series of giveaways on my own that are somehow based on our travels, and this fit right in! So without further ado, I give you my two, yes TWO special items up for today’s giveaway (Note: You are WELCOME to enter BOTH but you need to leave two separate comments to do so):
Item #1: Freyja’s Rose French Press Cozy Knitting Kit
This is a knitting kit but it is also an original work of art by yours truly as the chart is a watercolor painting. Inspired by my recent trip to Iceland and my meeting with the ladies who run Knitting Iceland, this is a simple project to practice two-colored knitting and that will keep your coffee nice and warm snuggled up in some Icelandic wool.
*Hand painted color chart for Freyja’s Rose pattern and handwritten instructions which includes little more information about the pattern itself and its inspiration
*3 lovely buttons handmade by a ceramic artist near Oxford, England
*2 balls of Lett Lopi (light Icelandic lopi wool) yarn in two colors, dark teal and brown
You will need:
*Size 8 (5mm) knitting needles
*A basic knowledge of knitting, but there’s nothing terribly complicated and I am happy to make myself available via email if you come up with questions. I can also recommend a couple of websites that have easy-to-understand video demonstrations of just about everything you can imagine!
note: the finished cozy pictured is NOT included with the kit.
*Please leave a comment on this post and describe your favorite coffee-related ritual or one-time event (and if you don’t drink coffee but want to enter anyway, tell me why! I love a good story)
*Winners will be chosen at random but answering the question makes it more interesting and helps me keep straight which of the kits you’ve entered for.
Item #2: Mended Sweater Snowflake Counted Cross Stitch Sachet Kit
This pattern was inspired by an obviously well-loved sweater in an exhibition at the National Museum of Iceland. It’s a really great project for learning if you’ve never done cross stitch, and once you’ve finished stitching, fill with lavender from the Cotswolds in England and inhale deeply!
*Handpainted color chart for counted cross stitch and handwritten instructions and the story behind the pattern
*Woven embroidery fabric and fabric for the back of sachet
*English lavender from the Cotswolds (found in Oxford) for the filling
*Wool embroidery thread in teal and lavender
*1 embroidery needle
You will need:
*An embroidery hoop, 3″ or 4″
*Basic knowledge of counted cross stitch, though once again, I will be available through email for questions and can suggest web resources–it’s about the easiest embroidery method, so this is a great project for learning!
*Leave a comment describing where you will put the sachet when you’ve finished it
*Winner will be chosen at random
Comments close on Wednesday, May 25th, at Midnight. The winner will be announced in my post on Thursday, whenever I’m able to do that:)
Once again, you CAN enter to win both, but please do so with TWO SEPARATE COMMENTS, ONE FOR EACH KIT.
Thanks again for stopping by! I hope you’ve liked what you see here on Transient Homestead and will come back for a visit again soon!
