We have spent the past week relaxing in the English countryside of Shropshire with dear friends Paul and Jean Bell at their home, Moss Cottage. We did a lot of soaking up the fresh air, sitting by the coal fire, and eating like kings as both Paul and Jean are excellent cooks. We took a few outings, like a visit to the museum in Stoke-on-Trent to see the Staffordshire Hoard, Audlem Mill for a walk by the canal, and about 5 hours of driving around the Welsh countryside with Paul. It was a beautiful, cozy, refreshing week. I’m going to make a Flickr album (now that I’ve FINALLY organized several hundred photos on my own computer), but here are a few select moments:
Out for a walk the evening we arrived. Everett fell right to sleep after a long day of traveling, plus I think the fresh country air worked its magic on him.
On a walk through the field behind Moss Cottage.
Canal boats near Audlem Mill
Hoki the dog staying warm by the fire.
Everett and I spread a blanket in the grass one afternoon and just soaked up a little sun–he also chewed on some grass and Queen Anne’s Lace and enjoyed rolling the ball back and forth. That’s Moss Cottage behind him.
One of many views out the window of the car during our drive through northern Wales.
Garlic for the pesto Paul made in his huge mortar and pestal.
The super yummy salmon and pesto, post FA cup football match dinner–one of many many yummy meals throughout the week! (Sadly, though, Paul’s team Stoke-on-Trent, lost the FA Cup final, but we drank champagne because the at least got to Wembley)
New giveaway coming up tomorrow!!
